Info on Dash Drive for 2007 g35

This may be a repost but saw this info and thought it was pretty groundbreaking.

This car has swayed my decision away from the upcoming bmw 335i that i was waiting on. the body and interior are light years beyond the econobox look of the bmw 3series and is a much better bang for the buck.

You will be able to rip music from you CD's directly to the HD or use the CF card to transfer them to the HD.

with 10" subs in the front door panels, this audio system should kick some serious @ss

I have already thought about upgrading the meesly 10 GB to 40 GB or whatever maximum capacity is, I wonder if these hard drives are made to be moved and absorb shocks

they can be
FYI, I have 2 100 GB Seagate 2.5" drives in my trunk -- not automotive rated, working just fine!

You just need to design the shock protection right.

Ya, as long as you can get more storage it's cool. My 40gb ipod is packed - 9.5gb is pretty small.

Yeah, 10gb is really small these days but that's still cool. It would be cool if it used a regular 3.5" drive since they are dirt cheap.

I'd imagine we can. I kind of thought more about this last night and I like that Infiniti is moving in a more enthusiast direction with sound. Regardless of the fact that they use Bose (which is kind of the antithesis of audio enthusiasm), it's neat that they're using Burr Brown DACs and "forcing" people to re-rip their music at a higher quality in car rather than playing hastily ripped sound with whatever whacky compression rate they have on their ipod. It may **** some ipod users off (although they still supply RCA's for those folks who demand on using their ipod), but in the end it'll probably sound a lot better.

I agree, I only rip my music at 320kbs, I hate compression, now we'll have to wait and see if the new Bose takes advantage of it and if the interior has gotten quieter as well. I always felt that my car could be a bit quieter inside.

BTW, I check out ur site, beautiful job on the black paint, I swore I never own a black car again, if only I could find someone around here that does that kind of detailing
