I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I did a quick search and didn't see anything, so here it goes.
I used to visit car audio forums constantly and any item that was posted for sale required a picture and the user posting the ad has within 24 hours from posting to provide pictures.
I dislike how I see several ads here and there are no pictures or it's via PM. I don't know if any scams have occured here, but from the looks of it, doesn't seem like it has happened or even much if it has. Generally, in the audio forums, a picture of the item(s) for sale with a piece of paper with their username and date on it, helps prevent that sorta stuff. Nonetheless, even if that is not implemented, I think pictures should be required and posted within 24 hours, otherwise the thread gets deleted.

We've done more than that, check out this announcement that's posted in every section of the private classifieds:

Unfortunately very few people actually read the announcements and fewer yet actually follow the posting rules.

I figured there was a sticky somewhere, but I didn't see it, guess I was looking in the wrong section. Great setup... I guess it boils down to enforcement of the requirements. That pretty much depends on how strict the staff wants to be. It's more annoying than anything, but I guess it will affect the seller. Thanks for the link and clarification though.
