^Nope. Just email. I don't have (or need, or want) facebook. Between forums, IM, and e-mail I have enough social networking already

*Update*
The site is still experiencing some DoS attacks, but not nearly as bad as last weekend.

Also....
Just in; it looks like server upgrades are in the works,
which should improve things for us.

Botnet DDOS attacks can be difficult to fight against. You can set the embryonic connection limit fairly low on your firewall to defend against syn atacks, use a caching service like Akamai or Prolexic to take the brunt of the attack, or buy one of the new DOS fighting devices but other than that, there is not a whole lot more you can do.

One thing that sucks about a site like this is you don't want to limit your viewers based on geographic location. A very large portion of the network attacks that I investigate on a daily basis come from Asia Pacific, Russia, or somewhere in the RIPE territory. It would be nice if you could just deny all traffic from those ranges but then you would be limiting your audience. Good luck with your defense plan. I hope to see the site up so we don't have to go through withdrawals again.

Thanks for keeping us all up to date. It's a lot easier to put up with a problem when you know the source, and that you guys are working on it.

I would like to know what they did to combat the problem before. Unfortunately it would be an absolutely horrible idea to divulge specifics about their network on the site that is being attacked. Not to say the attackers are even reading the site, more likely they are just targeting the range of IP addresses used by Internet Brands, but it would still be a bad idea.

Old Man and the Sea??? Isn't that part of the freshman English curriculum? At least it was when I was in school.

I got a better idea... divulge specifics about the ATTACKING ip address... what we do with that information is up to us (bwahahahhaha)
