hey guys,

I am not aware of a single issue, DDOS related, or server related that would cause teh site to be slow at all.

What browser and operating system? Can you try the firefox extension firebug and take a screencap of the page element load times for me please?

cheers,
robb

It's not the site that's slow. (well, it was a little slow when posting a few days ago)
The issue is the email notifications.

I haven't got email notifications for either of the above posts yet. And it'll probably be 20+ minutes before I do.
And no, that's not because of outlook not checking the pop3, I'm not even using outlook.

I'm using Gmail and the email checks itself constantly. The emails are being delayed somewhere before they get to my account.
And I'm not the only one having the problem. Calcul8 is having the same exact problem. (I suspect lots of members are and just haven't said anything.)

I don't believe that emails have ever gone out the second a post is made. That stuff runs on a cron job, to reduce the load on the servers from constantly firing emails. They are done in batches, ever 15, or perhaps 20 minutes IIRC. Does that help to clear it up?

cheers,
robb

Today I'm getting notifications within a couple of minutes.
I use Firefox on here and MS Outlook for my mail.

Nope. I used to get email notifications within a minute or (usually) less of the post being made. That's been the case for years. (barring a couple times this has happened before)

Note the discrepancy in the mail header between 08 : 21 : 58 PST and 07 : 34 : 11 PST .... somewhere that email got hung up for over 45mins.

Here you go. I just (within 2 mins) got the notification for this post:

I can try switching to a different email account, but I really really really doubt that's the problem, as other people have had the same problem, and I changed nothing on my end.

trying to think of ways we can further narrow this down. hrmm....
