HOW TO: Search This Forum
High level: search button sucks, use google by putting "site:g35driver.com" in search.
Okay, I'm a new member to the forum and I have to say how impressed I am by how active it is here. However, this is also a double edged sword: there is tons of great info here, but there is also tons of "noise" out there.
Many threads start like this:
Someone asks a question.
Douchebag says "search newb, this has been answered a billion times."
Someone responds back "I tried searching"
Noob bumps the thread months later with "hey did you find the answer, this thread was at the top of my search" (because threads are sorted by date, not relevance)
Basically there are a lot of threads with GOOD titles, the responses all say to search, but these threads come up in searches, so questions don't get answered, or the answer is in some obscure thread with a sh*tty title like "Check this out!!OMG"
Enter Google. The search button on this forum can almost be forgotten about.
From google.com, enter your search term followed by "site:g35driver.com" (without quotes) and be amazed how much quicker you can find RELEVANT info.
For example, MREV2 is a popular mod, I know nothing about it so I try searching. Putting "MREV2" in the g35driver search turns up this:
Pretty much 1 vendor thread, 1 useful looking thread waaay at the bottom, and a BUNCH of junk threads that happen to have MREV2 somewhere mentioned (probably in somebody's signature).
Next let's try google:
MUCH BETTER, we get reviews and dyno threads on the first page! Want to know what a MREV2 looks like? Click the "Images" tab, bam now you know.
Just trying to help out my fellow G35 noobs.
