Why is everyone saying if the car matches the price of the 335i they might as well get a BMW? If performance across the board is the same how are you makign assumptions at this time.

I only read one poster who said they would buy a BMW.

I know everyones getting mixed messages from their dealers, so I am posting what I was told while turn my lease and time it with geting a new one. BOTTOM LINE IS GO TO THE NYAS and ask them there, and I'm sure they will have the most accurate info for the public!

That sounds a bit odd. When do automakers release a new car that early in the year when it is actually next year's model year? I can understand a 2008 car coming out in Sept. or Oct. maybe, but in April or May? NO WAY!!!!

I think the demo car may be delivered to dealerships randomly for a few weeks for dealerships to check out at that time, but not to actually sell. I remember when the original G35 coupe was due to come out. The dealerships were given the new coupe to check out in their showroom for about a week. The coupe was then taken away and delivered to another local dealership for them to check out too.

ya man, i hear ya and agree.

how the hell can they sell a car 6 months into the year and label it an 08 ? then do the same thing 1/2 year later and call it 2008.5 ???

here's another one... what happened with the 2005 coupe did the 2005 auto's come out a couple of months early in 2004 ? I purchased mine in December and wanted a stick but they wernt going to be release till january + ?

act. they CAN sell the car in 2007 and label it a 2008. the body, engine etc is all 2008 specs. Additionally, I know my cars a 2004.5 b/c of its VIN. Specific VIN #s indicate when the car was manufactured before/after. Hence why some 2004 models dont suffer from the known defects/TSBs the earlier 2004 models have. Just an FYI...

Having said that, I dont think the car will go for sale until late 2007 (august earliest). I have rarely, if ever seen a dealer sell the model that far in advance...(August is the earliest)

It's not that uncommon. Way back in '93 the MX6 was released in April '02 as an '03. I bought one. The G sedan was also released earlier in '02 as an '03.

No the '05 MT's were late releases. Normally they would be out by Oct. but they were delayed for some reason.

I bought my 2002 Acura TL-S -- May 9, 2001.

The manufacturer can call it pretty much whatever they want so as long as it meets specification for a particular year. I guess there's a balance between getting the newest model out VS getting rid of your old inventory. I remember some of the deals the Acura dealership had getting rid of 2000 AND 2001 model year cars off the lot when the 2002 Type-S model came in ...

Yep that's right. The G Sedan was released in April 02 as an 03 MY. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they introduced the 08 Coupe early like that as well. We'll see.

I pray that they do NOT release it that early. It would really ruin the resale value of the current coupe. And, I'm trying to sell it as we speak!
