Is the G37 an infiniti specific model? I'm wondering what's happening to the V35 350GT Skyline for us folks in the UK that imported from Japan. Will there be a V37 for the JDM???

Pictures of the G37 have appeared in our Sunday press here in the UK. The article reports that Inifniti will be launching in the UK in October 2008. The price here in the UK for the G37 is expected to be around £35K ($67)

So we're finally getting the brand & model. I still don't know how this affects the 350GT Skyline that a small number of us have imported from Japan? Anyone know anything????

 

I think you're confused.

V35 & V36 are listed as generations, not models.

So no, there will not be a V37 until atleast another 4 years.

I'm not sure I understand your point about generations. I have a V35 same as your G35. the new model is a G37 so I assume in Japan, they will also have the new model? or Not? That is my question really. What happens to the Skylines??

 

Well, over here, every car goes through different generations (as it does everywhere).

For example, the 02-06 Sedan and 03-07 Coupe are known as the first generation G's [350GT].

The second generation G's [350GT & 370GT(?)]are the 07-?? Sedan and 08-?? Coupe.

In other words, V35's and V36's are under a major catagory: generations. Where as a G35 [350GT] and G37 [370GT?] are under a smaller catagory: models.

Not sure if you catagorize vehicles the same way we do over here in the U.S and Canada.

The "g35" is just the name of the vehicle...

The V35 and V36... etc... are the internal "code names" for this vehicle that Nissan uses to identify it. It is COINCIDENCE that the V35 coincided with the displacement of the engine... that's not what V35 stands for. Like I said, it's just an internal name that Nissan uses for this generation chassis, just like the new BMW 335i is identified as the "E92" chassis code.

The next generation G35 chassis (no matter what engine is in it) is the V36... then the next generation/redesigned chassis will be the V37... etc.

You're confusing the model name (used by the public) with the private, internal code for this particular chassis design.

I was informed previously that for the old R32 - R34 Skylines. the R referred to the RB Engine and now for the V35 , the V refers to the VQ Engine (and of course incremented number to 35).

So if the G37 is a refreshed design (updated chassis), this must be the V36 then?
