If you've look at any of the dyno charts you'll notice the G has a better hp curve that doesn't drop off at all, while the 335 takes a plunge after 5600rpm. They will be neck and neck 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile.
OK guys... LOL "mine is bigger than yours" is getting old. Neither car will "destroy" the other, unless they are possessed by autobots (just saw the commercial on TV). Frankly, the performance is so close that it really doesn't matter; drivers race.
When comparing the G37 to the 335i, speculation should go beyond mere performance. What about issues such as true cost / value to own, reliability, mpg, safety features, electronics (stereo, nav...)... How about comparing those as well?
It's going to be a loooong 4 to 6 months....

I sound like a broken record (do people still use records?), but my take:
G37 will be a couple of ticks slower than the 335. In the race to 100 mph, the 335 is making more power 2/3 of the time. That being said, using the 07 sedan as a comparison tool, the new G37 will only be fractionally slower (in the 5-5.2 sec range for 0-60 and 13.6 for 1.4 mile). At that point, who cares? So, the 335 does it in 13.4 or 13.5....big deal. Either way, neither car is a drag car.
What makes the G37 so attractive is it's combination of power, handling, amenities, looks, and price. The 335 is a nice car but has a bunch of flaws that BMW fans choose to ignore. Don't get me wrong, I like the 335 and am still considering it, but my decision is not based on which car is 2/10ths faster in the 1/4 mile.

the g37 will at least match the 335
to everyone saying the 335i will kill it, how do you explain the e46 m3 being faster than the 335?
simple: torque doesnt win races, hp under powerband does.
speaking of the e46 m3, i think the g37 will be just as fast.

I disagree. If you look at the curves along with shift points, it seems the 335 makes more power more often than the G, although less so as you go into 2nd and 3rd, etc.
The M3 if I recall weighs less than a 335, so that is why it is faster. It also has a LSD which may help at take-off.
The G35 sedan (07) has about 20-30 less HP than the new G37 (at the wheels). The 1/4 mile times for the sedan are about 13.9. 20-30 HP at the wheels with more weight is not going to get you down to low 13s. I'd be surprised (and happy) if the new G37 is a 13.5 car. I stand by my guess of 13.6-13.7. It will be good to see what the 1st road test numbers look like, but I think you are setting yourself up for a disappointment.
Hypnoz - 13.1 is just ridiculous. That will never happen.

OK IM GOING TO LET YOU GUYS IN ON A FEW SECRETS..
TQ is not everything
i have beating 350z's in my 06 honda civic SI. with less HP and TQ reving all the way to 8k and jumping off the line on them with my LSD
yes some of that is due to weight.
the 2008 M3 has less TQ then the 335i do you really think a 335i is going to match the 2008 m3? think about it for a second
there are so many more variables to a car then HP and TQ
LSD
gearing
weight
suspension
DRIVER!
REV limit.
ect ect..
you cannot simply say because a cars specs are great that the car will win.
on paper the 350z should spank a 06 si but as my friends and myself have found out.. the 06 si just moved a little bit faster
cheers

hahaha z driver didnt know how to drive. my sister has an 06 si..... dont get me wrong (fun car) but not faster than my g, and i believe torque has alot to do with acceleration times, but i agree their are alot of other factors as well only time will tell guys
And then while the M3 is on side of the road then we can destroy it... mwhuhahahah
sorry I couldn't resist LOL.
just for fun, do a search on the word "destroy" and seehow many threads come up... it is kinda funy
