my assumption will be 5 sec and I also suspect alot of modding potential for this car.

I couldn't care less about 0-60 OR 1/4 times.

I want a high trap speed.

I'm not racing from street lights, so the above doesn't matter. I would like passing power. And that's where a high trap speed shows.
Regardless, I think a good comparison to this car would be the E46 M3 convertible. Similar engine specs and weight.

Of course times vary by the tester, but 5.3 sec 0/60 and a tad under 14 sec for the 1/4 is about average. You bring up a good point since I expect the G37 times will be similar. My guess for the G37 would be a tad over 5 secs for 0/60 and mid 13s for the 1/4. In other words it won't be faster than a 335.

Please, let's be serious here. If you want a car with that kind of speed you should be looking at something else. Something you'll have to spend many tens of thousands more on.
Also no one "knows" that the G37 is a 4.9 second car yet.

We're of course waiting for the G37 since the ability to buy a new car has some advantages for us. We liked the C55, but it was pricey for being used and it wasn't available in stick. The interior was solid, but the overall look of the interior was just too bland. I'll skip the e46 because she just didn't like it, and nor did I.

My g/f has been anti-vette forever, but after she sat in the C6 she admitted it was her favorite of the bunch. She said the seats were the most comfortable and the buttons/controls were nicer than the e46. She really likes the pics of the G37 interior as well.

That said, the C6's interior is just as luxurious as any cars in this range. And to Hypnoz, the title of this thread is 0-60 times and people keep complaining that it won't be fast enough, so I CAN and I WILL tell the people on this forum that it's MY opinion that they should be looking at C6's.

A good C6 on the used market can be had for under $40k which will be about the same as a new G37. When the G37 comes out, the Vettes will be even less. You can get a 2006, sub-10k mile 3LT Vette for around $40k in mint condition, so I'd consider that a comparable alternative, especially since the NEW, $45-50k 335i has been mentioned several times on this thread.

I think people just think of the stigma that comes with the Vette and that they're NOT luxurious. My g/f is Asian and has been raised thinking American cars are garbage and that German cars are the best. Her father has that mentality and will ONLY buy Japanese or German cars. However, at the end of our little car browsing trip, she agreed that the Vette is MORE luxurious than the 350Z and the e46 M3. What she doesn't know or understand is that the C6 Vette has supercar performance. The biggest positive the G37 has over a C6 is that it has two backseats, however one could argue that they're nearly worthless for adults. Alternatively, the C6's hatchback design makes it quite useful for shopping trips, golfing, etc. My g/f drives an Acura MDX which seats 7 so four seats isn't a requirement it's just a bonus (and I drive a Z-Roadster now).
i had a c5 vette for almost 5 years. I spent more time at the dealer getting "warranty" work than driving it. Some of the issues were never resolved (like the active handling turning off intermittently). CAVEAT EMPTOR

Stranger things have happened. The sedan with 24 less hp does it in 5.1-5.2. Mustang GTs have done it in 4.9-5.1 with only 300 hp(320tq). If the G37 is a sub 5 sec car, I will be a new owner of one....looks be damned!

But seriously, who cares?

I'd rather know 1/4 mile and 40-120.

.
not really... but street races usually end around 60-90 and that's when they run out of road or afraid of getting pulled over

Unfortunately, that calculator does not account for aerodynamics, gearing/redline, torque, power curve, or traction/launch ability.

I agree. When putting in the 335i weight and hp, it comes to 5.3. Aside from bragging rights, does it REALLY matter? 4.9, 5.0, 5.1.... So close in times that it is a drivers comparison. Also, based on Edmunds review, the G37 Journey with sport package feels more responsive and handles better than the 335i. Now, had Edmunds compared a G37 6MT, perhaps the slight advantage would go to the G37.

One thing is for sure... G37 owners won't have to worry about the turbos maxing out the oil temp as the 335i does.
