Guys, corvette's are great cars but you can't tell us we should get a Z or vette if we want fast 0-60 times. The great thing about this car is that it is great all-around. I think a lot of us want the luxury and the speed in one package. A vette interior is horrid and they are $6k+ more. Also the Z interior is aging big time and it doesn't come with the 3.7L.

I agree that the C5's interior isn't that great. I have no problem with the C6's interior.

I think a lot of us want the luxury and the speed in one package.

The only cars that I'm aware that fit that description are pricey. Cars like an E55 AMG come to mind. I suppose the $60K E46 M3 may also fit that description, although as a former owner of an '02 E46 M3, I wouldn't classify them as having luxurious interiors.

I went car shopping with my g/f today. We looked at a C55 AMG, an e46 M3, and a C6 Z51 3LT.

We're of course waiting for the G37 since the ability to buy a new car has some advantages for us. We liked the C55, but it was pricey for being used and it wasn't available in stick. The interior was solid, but the overall look of the interior was just too bland. I'll skip the e46 because she just didn't like it, and nor did I.

My g/f has been anti-vette forever, but after she sat in the C6 she admitted it was her favorite of the bunch. She said the seats were the most comfortable and the buttons/controls were nicer than the e46. She really likes the pics of the G37 interior as well.

That said, the C6's interior is just as luxurious as any cars in this range. And to Hypnoz, the title of this thread is 0-60 times and people keep complaining that it won't be fast enough, so I CAN and I WILL tell the people on this forum that it's MY opinion that they should be looking at C6's.

A good C6 on the used market can be had for under $40k which will be about the same as a new G37. When the G37 comes out, the Vettes will be even less. You can get a 2006, sub-10k mile 3LT Vette for around $40k in mint condition, so I'd consider that a comparable alternative, especially since the NEW, $45-50k 335i has been mentioned several times on this thread.

I think people just think of the stigma that comes with the Vette and that they're NOT luxurious. My g/f is Asian and has been raised thinking American cars are garbage and that German cars are the best. Her father has that mentality and will ONLY buy Japanese or German cars. However, at the end of our little car browsing trip, she agreed that the Vette is MORE luxurious than the 350Z and the e46 M3. What she doesn't know or understand is that the C6 Vette has supercar performance. The biggest positive the G37 has over a C6 is that it has two backseats, however one could argue that they're nearly worthless for adults. Alternatively, the C6's hatchback design makes it quite useful for shopping trips, golfing, etc. My g/f drives an Acura MDX which seats 7 so four seats isn't a requirement it's just a bonus (and I drive a Z-Roadster now).

The G 37 as a 4.9 sec car is gorgeous.........I was hoping it would be in the
mid 4's though...if not even the low 4's.

I see the GTR as my next car though.......it beats a 911 turbo...and may be
500 hp stock.......that is a alternative hard to ignore....

Again HP is for the Track and Torque is for the street. An ideal arrangement is someting like on a Vette: 400 HP and 400 lb/ft of torque. I'm starting to believe that a lot of you guys haven't driven a real performance car in your life based on the comments I've been reading. Drive a torque monster like any of the MB AMG cars or better yet a C6 Z06, and you'll see what pleasure it is to drive a high torque car on the street. The antithesis is an S2000 with a decent amount of HP for its low curb weight, but it doesn't have much grunt for the street. Nevetheless, it's an outstanding track car, especially for the price.
I drove an 06 Vette with Paddle shifters and OMG, that thing slams you into the seat and goes to 60mph in 4.2 seconds according to the chev website.

Get the vette. You are not married and don't need backseats. Case-closed.

^^ How much do Vette's lease for? like a 45k MSRP 36 month 15k/year mile lease? I'm leasing my next vehicle and was considering that as an option.. although I hear GM leases screw you in the end?

Off topic but the C6 Vette is getting an upgrade to an LS3 engine, supposed to debut April 28th or so and rumor is 50hp more! 450hp in a C6?! I'm waiting to see that badboy!

People can tell you that all they want. The beauty is that you can choose whichever car you want!

With that said,

This is NOT horrid and I want a C6!

are you serious, I have not heard any of that on the vette boards?

Have you?

What is your source, that is really awesome.

BTW, is the paddle-shifted 6spd faster than the regular auto or the same?
Is the paddle-shifted 6spd the same or faster than the manual?

I know porsche tiptronic 911tt is faster (3.4sec to 60) than the manual (3.7sec to 60). I'm not comparing the 2 cars, just the idea that tiptronic could be the same as the manual, in the case of the vette. Yes, I know the porsche transm. is more technologically sophisticated.

Not sure on lease info.

That combination will work every time.
chevy website is claiming 4.2 seconds to 60mph.

http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/

I would take it to a chevy dealership in my area, provided they did not oil up the interior and park it near a cavalier to get scratched.

I always initiate the walkaround and point out what I know the flaws to be and the fact that there is no curbrash on bumper or any dings..that way they know "I am one of those" customers they have to watch out for

Only real car enthusiasts knows that C6 are good cars. I know a lot of friends think that it cant handle for ****, since it is an American car, and interior sucks ***, since it is an American car.

but one thing I am concerned about the car, and it is the stereotype that the owner of a vette are usually for mid 40 drivers. Ehhh, I wouldn't mind owning one! my dream carr!! Z06 FTW!! Ls7!!
