He told me that the allocation for all Infiniti Dealers is three cars each for the initial release date of August 21. Of course those cars will sell at sticker, and depending upon how the car sells, he doesn't expect to offer discounts of any substance until 2008.
Since I don't have the need to be the first to buy any new model, I won't be buying a G37 until 2008, unless I can get a good deal on a 335 in the mean time. BTW a local BMW Dealer offered me $1K off on a 335, which although isn't great, is at least a start in the right direction.

That's what I expected. If you are leasing, the "no discount" may be less of an issue. For instance, waiting to get 1k off sticker will end up reducing your monthly payment by about $10 per month. Unless we start seeing 2-3k off of sticker which I do not believe we will see for a while, people who are leasing may not be affected as much. Of course, this assumes that the residuals and money factors are fair when the car first comes out compared to them down the line.
EDIT: I take back what I said above about the $10/month. On a lease, the residual is always based on the MSRP, so any savings off sticker go right in your pocket. Saving 1k off sticker will save you 1k over 36 months ($30/month). Even more reason to wait.
Regarding the 335, I would shop around. It didn't take much for me to get a lot better deal (1st dealer gave me 2k off without me even asking). If you are leasing, the 335 money factors are low. If you like the sedan, the residuals are high as well. Will still cost you more than a G though.

That 335i coupe is the truth. I got to really test drive it again 3 weeks ago. Don't tell my mom.. but that thing hits 140 in 4th gear.. and keeps pullin. Originally Posted by FAST1

Engine sounds so angry, but well tuned.
If I could get a good look at a montego blue one in person, I might really have to think about my future with infiniti.

This will be dependant of where you live. If you're up north, snow will be a factor on the demmand on the car. You may be able to give yourself a great Christmas gift Originally Posted by FAST1

They know the G37 is right around the corner, I expect we would see prices come down since up to now there is nothing new to go head to head with the 335. The new TT is not yet out, nor is the A5, the new G sedan I am sure is taking some sales away from Bimmer, but not sure how many units. Right now with no competitor really on the block, they can sell high all day long.
But by July-Aug, these will have been on the market for almost 10 months, and have the new G to face down. If you really want the 335, wait to then, and tell both sales guys you are testing each model to see how that can help. They can go to the Infiniti website and find the pricing by then just like us, so it will all be out in the open.
While it may not make a big difference at the end of the day, I am guessing it will have some impact on a final sale price of either model. I still think the 335 is a great driver, but a sleepy exterior that screams out for aftermarket body parts more then any other sports coupe I can think of. Someone else on this Forum said it months ago - the new look is almost Civic like. Yawn....

I'd hate to nit-pick, but the new TT is already out. I also do not think that it is geared at competing against the G37 and 335i. At 250hp, I dont think they are in the same class. Add its size into the equation, you are competing with SLKs and Z4s. Furthermore, the A5 is only coming with 250HP? What was Audi thinking?Originally Posted by G-WannaBe

I had herd July on the TT, but even if the release is then- your right, that is priced in this range but not equal in power. Just worthy to compare in that it is a performance Lux coupe. Similar pricing and offerings, just lower on power.
The A5 is pure turtle in Peanut Butter, the S5 is underpowered, for a V8 to put out 354 is a slug, but I have read different numbers on the RS5, recently this was posted up on the net:
"new RS5 is expected to pack a 450 HP punch when it hits the market in
the first half of 2008."

are you guys talking about the 335 coupe or sedan with those discounts? If the coupe, I have yet to hear anyone getting more than $1k off msrp. Also, what part of the country do you guys live??

Yep, I saw one at a local coffee shop about a week ago. It had temporary tags. I think it looks a hell of alot better than the previous generation. I really like the front end.Originally Posted by Initial G

As far as the G37...I was told the same thing. The dealer here can expect an allocation of three during the release. Dealers in this area probably won't see another coupe for a while after that. The only thing that sells here are G35x's. In fact, they've had a black obsidian G35S for the last two months and haven't sold it.

you can get at least $500 off the g37 coupe when it comes out thru the costco auto program.
i got $500 off a quote for the 2007 g35 sedan in november 2006 when it first came out and $1500 off the bmw 335 coupe the same month... just for registering. what to do:
register on this site: http://costcoauto.com/, make an appointment w/ your local dealership, go there & bring in your costco card. they'll show you MSRP, invoice and costco prices for everything, including options.
its worth the $45 or $50 costco membership itself, if you plan to buy a new car model and can't wait for the eventual price slide.

I am pretty sure the S5 is expected to weigh 100# less than the G37. Add to that AWD and the extra hp and more tq and I wouldn't call it a slug unless the put the G in that category as well.Originally Posted by G-WannaBe

Should the V8 make more? Sure. But, that doesn't make the car slow.
Also, let's not forget the Mustang GT's V8 only puts out 300hp which has 0.4L on the Audi engine. Obviously, the Ford isn't a great comparison, but it does show V8 does not automatically equal massive power.

Good point, I found 2 weight ratings and the v8 was comming in @ 3345 and over 3550 on 2 different sights, so we can't exactly call her heavy with those numbers. the HP rating I would agree is not bad, but in the S line up I guess I was thinking I would see a higher number. The non S highest HP is still under 250, that is bad for a high priced coupe, but they can't all be the G37. And of course there is the Audi priemium, AWD, and fit and finish that give it a lot of its value. To each, but they will have to do a lot more in the style department to earn my hard earned cash.Originally Posted by Rampant

I was talking about the coupe, not the sedan. The best I could get is $1K off list. Moreover, no Dealers near me even have 335 coupes in their showrooms. The three Dealers nearest to me have their allocations taken up by custom orders.Originally Posted by yeahdickey

A loaded 335i Coupe MSRP should be about $46k, with invoice at about $42k. I have one big issue with the 335i, no LSD, not even as an option nor included in the sport package. In the rain and spirited corners, the LSD really makes a big difference.
Also, I'd hold off for a 2008 335i as many of the more serious bugs would have been worked out (fuel pumps, oil temp/over heating).
Oh, $1k price difference on typical financing (with good credit) is more than $10/month. More like $17 to $20/month depending on interest rate. Since I pay cash, to me, I see the money go immediately, so not getting the best deal possible hits home (and hurts the ego), unlike those who pay "just" another 20 bucks more a month.
BTW... I drove a 2007 Lexus IS350 with sport package today. Impression: Simply Wonderful! It handled great and the steering feel was terrific (Car & Driver must have been hungover with BMW execs during their eval). Fit and finish was better than Infiniti (G35x) and BMW (335i). The engine was not thrashy, more like a finely tuned sewing machine (which is a good thing). One thing kept comming to mind....quality, quality, quality. I don't care for 4 door sedans, but this one looked very sporty. It sure didn't handle like a sedan. There is an HKS exhaust option from Lexus that adds a nice sporty sound. The 6 speed paddles were GREAT! Click, click, click...no hesitation through the gears and changing gears was smooth. The 18" wheels should have been 19" and wider, but they held the road. Oh, almost forgot...the Mark Levinson stereo is probably one of the best that I have ever listened to. Even at high volume there was no distortion. I listened to songs and heard music sounds of the song that I didn't even know where there. The navigation is good, but I like the Infiniti nav better (45 degree view) and Lexus does not let nav adjustments when the car is in gear.
