aftermarket has not even hit on these cars yet. who knows what kind of power bolt ons will make with this new engine.. nobody!

for all we know it could be detuned..and way restrictive...

last but not least.. this may not be everyones option but think of the possibilities with FORCED INDUCTION ON THIS MOTOR!!!!!!!!

its already at 335i level... a simple $4k supercharger kit would make this car INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

its got twin intakes that are just screaming for some forcefed air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why is everyone saying the G37 has the power of the 335i?... What am I missing?... The 335i has boatloads more trq - I'm not convinced the G37 would keep up with it off the line. You are correct about FI though… and that’s why Nissan need to build an OEM product… by the time you make an N/A G37 FI it’s the price of a 335i anyway. I’d much rather have the safety, reliability and warranty of an OEM ST, TT or SC… I suspect an ST is in the future…

well i dont know what to tell you.. until people actually get the car and start driving it ect ect.. then its all speculation..

one car is NA the other is FI both are (6 cyl's) one makes alot of power with no turbo..

I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I DONT BUY A SPORTS COUPE TO LEAVE IT STOCK.. and from the looks of the new engine theres plenty of room to make more HP the twin intake looks mighty promising to me..

im sure after market product makers are just itching for this thing to come out so then can work the majik on this new nissan...

im personally still on the fence about all the new coupes out. but seriously this car just put a spark back up my *** that i thought was gone.

if you cant see the potential then im sorry.

If anything, I've learned to keep my cool in "enthusiast" forums. It's hard, but I have learned not to waste my energy arguing.

Usually people refer to power as hp.

The 335i definately has that amazing torque line. Amazing amount of torque from 2k all the way to [almost] redline.

As far as torque, im sure it will help it off the line. But im convinced that the VQ37VHR, which shows to have more wheel horsepower, will keep up with the 335i due to its great powerband; the VQ37VHR just keeps on pulling until redline.

I guess we will have to see these two go head to head; should be a very interesting match, seeing how their engines perform very good, yet in a completely different manner.

Wait, I thought the BIMMER had the I6. What does the beemer have? Haha, just yankin' your crank.

I'm just curious what the residuals and money factors will be when the car comes out.

Wow, that's your opinion. I'm no BMW fanboy but, the interior is nicer than anything in Infiniti's stable. In terms of design, comfort, feel the Bimmer has the edge over the current sedan, and the coupe is the same. The iDrive may be a tad over the top, though not nearly as bad as Car&Driver would have you believe.
I don't know, I came away pretty impressed with the Bimmer. If you want something to smoke that car, just get the C6 Vette and you'll save $10 grand.

Now with respect to the dyno. Why do they say that the VQ35DE Rev-up has a 6600-rpm fuel cutoff?

If you truly think the 335 interior is better than the M's interior then you are sadly mistaken.

Hate to break it to guys that think mods for the VQ37HR are going to match up with the turbo 335I. Vishnu already got this engine to put down 331hp/350ft lbs torque at the wheels.

Look at what they've accomplished. They have a 3.7L N/A V6 that puts down 289whp that gets 27mpg with aggressively set gearing and extremely flat torque/hp curves. The 335i equally equipted usually come in 8k above the G. Plus twin-turbo set up with bmw reliablility = headaches down the road.

335i will have reliablility issues no more than Infiniti has. Absolutely no "headaches" with Infiniti huh? hmm.. I'm on my second engine on my G35, and guess what? It's still consuming oil. I swear, I read some of these posts, and it seems like objectivity just goes out the window.

Lets wait and see before making assumptions that your 37 will be flawless. I bet you that part of the reasoning behind the revision of this VQ is because of the oil consumption problem.

And as far as Torque vs HP debate, I'd personally rather have torque through out the power band.

You obviously haven't dealt with TT setups before. BMW reliability has always been worse than infiniti. The oil consumption issue is the largest issue nissan has had to deal with in some time.

Why would you make an assumption that they redesign the VQ to get rid of the oil consumption issue? That is just stupid. They have to redesign it due to COMPETITION. Nothing more.

This isn't a torque vs hp debate. Look at the hp curve of the G37. When you shift the g37 it will be at the 335's peak hp and raise from there. When you shift the 335, it will be at it's peak hp and drop from there. Around town the 335 will be/feel faster, I don't argue that though.

Nobody had responded to my question about the Ram Air technology in the new G37. Would this not affect power ratings when moving compared to the dyno?
