Ok, its a general consensus that the production G37 is somewhat of a disappointment compared to the G Concept.

There are what I find more or less overall striking similaries (many of which ppl like to slam the G37 for):
- The overall shape, withs its curves and lines
- headlights
- taillights
- chrome lip

Now 2 things:

1) What can be done to the G37 to bring it as close to the concept coupe as possible? I've applied the following to the photochops of the G37, keeping it as realistic as possible (ie something that can be done in real):
- Lowering, maybe a larger offset
- window tint
- non-sport bumper / concept bumper
What else can be done?

2) What in your mind has infiniti messed up on the G37 so bad that cant be fixed?

 

haha its so funny to me how people are complaining. Dont get me wrong i was to at a point, but then when u look at the comparison its actually very similar. And to be logical this is as close a car will get to its concept. I know some may be disappointed in the camera side mirrors not coming through or the all glass moon roof i believe it was, but com on we all knew that wouldnt come into production. Just take a minute and look at the pictures and you will see the production car is just as good as the concept. Oh and may i ask, Is that the chrome lip on the concept or is it a refection?

 

Instead of photoshopping it why not just use the real non-sport bumper? That's the closest thing to the concept front bumper to date.

Sure, the G37 does resemble the Concept, but the G37 is nowhere near breath-taking as the Concept.

I think the G37 looks good with the non-sport bumper. But its still nowhere near the "awwwwww" effect of the concept. Nothing surpricing; concepts are always much more ideal

The taillights and rear end was not the best they could of done...but overall, the G37 is simply the superior car inside and out....

I hate the rear, and the front quarter views ... but everything else looks great!

 

Sorry, but they made changes in the wrong direction. Bulging up the back and making it more rounded, making the front thicker and more curvy. Wrong moves.

 

Wait till people start putting on 20s on this beast and slammed on coilovers...its gonna be a sick car.

 

Take a look at pictures of G37 with the non-sport bumper and you should be satisfied with the styling. I used to think the G37 design is a huge dissapointment compared to the concept until I see comparison pictures side by side. They are 90%+ identical in terms of exterior design. Quad projector and glass roof would have been nice but hey - we have to leave something for the 2010 refresh.


From my experience, Infiniti tends to 'hint' future product development in current vehicle. For example, the 2006 coupe refresh resembles many characters found in the G37. I will take a wild guss that the glass roof on the concept points to a possibility of a convertible in the future.

 

I just wish it had the concept tails. They are more sloped, with a point at the top corner, rather than "vertical" and round on the production version. Big difference there, to me. But overall, it's nice and I'm probably getting the one I have on order.

 

Yea ok, let's compare a ~60k M3 to a ~35k Infiniti.

 

Yup! that's right!

 

I heard a chipped WRX STi is way faster than the new M3, has more comfortable interior, livable backseats, a big trunk and TURBO!!!!!! Not to mention those huge wings are free in case you hit turbulance on the freeway going 193mph. WRX STI FTW!!!!!

 

Not to mention maybe 1/2 the price.
