How many of you having G37 purchased as gift?

Is it just me, or have I noticed a lot of younger folks are having their parents/grandparents/etc buy them a G37c as their first car.

Not bagging on anyone, I wish to hell my parents didn't have me take over payments on their 1986 Cavalier Wagon and had instead bought me a car. (Although, looking back, it did teach me how to work on cars and tought me about why having a job is important, etc, etc.)

Anyway - just wondering how many of you are having your G37c bought for you and what the circumstances are around that.

well.. i'll be the first to say something. if i were a kid.. heck yea i'd take this car as my first if my parents bought it.. even if it wasnt teaching me anything about earning what you get and not taking things for granted and even if it spoiled me. but those parents are irresponsible and are not teaching these kids anything. this forum is of course about cars and i'll stick to that topic... moving on!

ps.. if your a kid and its your first car and mom is buying it for ya great.. you may be in that 1% of children who are wise beyond their years.. just know.. your not the norm. Dont kill anybody.

Mine is a gift mostly. I am working for my dad though for free (I want to work for free) at his business. He's also paying for my education for the next... 8 years and my brother's education for 5 years (he's in veterinary school).

Wow - crazy - I had to pay for my first car, apartment, tuition, books, food, etc all through college. Essentially everything since the day I turned 18.
Then again, it taught me to be smart and invest well and now I can by this car cash if I wanted to at age 33. (But that would be dumb because I'd rather invest the balance.)

My kid (who is barely 1 right now) is definately getting a job and making payments on a used economy car. I may help him with the DP if he's good. But he's not getting a license at all until he turns 18.

Anyway - good for you guys - please realize that you are very very privleged and be safe.

Oh, trust me, I am very thankful for my parents allowing me to get this car. I really despise those kids who feel that they deserve/should get a car like this for the reason because they're who they are. When I first asked my father months ago if I could get the 335i, I expected him to say no because it was too expensive, but he said "Ok"... and that started everything. My dad always tells me that when I have a very successful business and have money to just spend on whatever I like... that I will be paying for all his and mom's vacation trips around the world. I said "Fiiiiine". He expects stuff in return when I have my own money, hehe, which is perfectly understandable.

This will be a gift...for myself My parents didn't have the money to help with the purchase of a car, so I didn't get my first ride till I was 21 (Audi 5000...Ha!!!).

I'm 36 and although I am in a position to purchase most cars without a problem, I just never believed in buying a new car. Like iansw I would rather invest my money, not watch it precipitiously depreciate as the months roll on. That was my thinking until I read about and saw this car.

For those of you who are getting this car as a gift...congratz! You lucky son of a b@&*#h!!

Oh well thank you very much. I know several other people would disagree with that but let that be them. I respect my parents very much as they've done so much for me. I'll stop there since the story will just get so long lol. Anyways... when are you getting your G37?

I'm glad that you have a good head on your shoulders and seem to have pretty good work ethic. Enjoy your new G. Of course you are required to post pics when you get it.

I'm the same way - lots of respect for mom and pops. As a grad gift from college they're helping me with the down payment, but that's it. They gave me the best advice of my life telling me to hold off on getting a credit card until I had a stable job, and now I have no bills and money saved up for a down payment including a paid-off car for trade in....hello sub-300 monthly payments...

oh and when I say helping me out on my down payment, they're covering tax, tags, title...not a lot of help considering my job, but hey I'll take it.

Wow, so your Dad said "ok" to a 335i and you're passing it up for the G37? Kudos to you. For most, if cost was no consideration, they would go with the 335i. I'm impressed. You did your research and really do believe the G is the better car for you. I went the other route (335i) but partly because I didn't have the patience to wait the extra several months to test drive th G. Have fun!! I can't wait to read your "first drive" posts.

Oh I passed it up for the 335i because of subjective styling. If the 335i had G37's interior, then I would get the 335i. Yeah I've done a LOT of research on all of the possible cars. My top 3 choices came out to be: 1. Infiniti G37 2. Lexus IS350 and 3. 2008Mercedes C350. The new Mercedes navigation is spectacular but not as great as Infiniti's Birdview navigation... the new MB navigation will have "Birdview", something that Infiniti started.
