Hopefully all that silver in the interior is aluminum and not plastic

Anyways I think it looks awesome. They'll probably get rid of the integrated rear spoiler to make it look more conventional.

New Concept Vehicle From Infiniti

Fresh off a record sales year in the U.S. in 2005, Infiniti unveiled a concept car that shows a sleek, modern design theme for the next-generation G35 coupe.
At a world premiere at the NAIAS, the two-door concept car glistened under the spotlights at the Infiniti display as Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti, said the company has made its mark with consumers because of styling and design.
“We are building the foundation on dynamic design,” Igo told the news media.
The concept car retains the basic shape of the current rear-wheel-drive G35 coupe, but projector headlamps are more eye-catching and the concept car, overall, sits lower to the ground.
There are subtly hidden outer door handles on the concept. The concept’s body side metal is more roundly shaped than in the current car, and there are prominent wheel bulges for the 20-inch, low-profile tires. The current G35 coupe rides on maximum 19-inch tires.
But perhaps most memorable on the outside is the sheen of the silver-colored body metal. While it looks like bare metal, it’s actually created from a “bare metal” paint.
The concept’s roof is full-length glass that provides a spacious feel inside. The car’s center console has two “waves” of textured aluminum trim, and instrumentation has a unique purple lighting. There’s also a sizable, 7-inch, color information display.
Igo said the current-generation G35 coupe remains in the lineup for at least a year, while the G35 sedan will be replaced after this model year. Infiniti plans to preview the new G35 sedan in April at the New York Auto Show, he added.
Besides the success with record sales, Infiniti also has a new, lower average age of its buyers – 46. Igo said this is the lowest of all luxury brands. It’s also 6 years younger than the average age of Infiniti buyers a few years earlier.
Indeed, the G35 coupe outsold the BMW 3-Series coupe in 2005, Igo said.
Igo reminded reporters that this year marks the start of a renovation of Infiniti dealerships, which have maintained their look since Infiniti was launched more than 15 years ago. The first fully renovated dealership will be completed this summer in Phoenix, he said.
He projected Infiniti’s U.S. sales to be about flat in calendar 2006 with the 136,401 sales of calendar 2005. Some of this will be due to the changeout of the 2006 G35 sedan with the new, 2007 model. The G35 sedan is Infiniti’s top-selling car. The G35 coupe is the second best-selling car.

Gidyup, so based on that article the coupe would be out in 2008 and the sedan in 2007?

Great. That sucks. I've waited a while to purchase and planned on doing it this May when my wife is done with school. Now looks like I have to wait longer.

I am in love. I was so scared that Infiniti was going to mess this project up. The concept looks beautiful and I am sure that they will not change to much for the production model.

I am concerned about the price. I wonder if they are going to try to keep the same market or if they are going to shoot for the moon and increase the price. I bought a loaded 6-speed 2005 G35 for $34,000 w/out nav. I really hope that this car stays in the price range of $30k - $40k!!!

Wow, very nice evolution of the current G35 Coupe design. I love the front end design, the side profile looks very nice. (I see some IS350 in the side profile actually) The rear end is kind of a mix bag. I don't like the Solara trunk, and I think they should cut the eyebrows off the corner of the tail lamps. Still... I'd Hit It!

I don't think I'll find much disagreement here though -

The Infiniti Coupe Concept looks much better than the GT-R Concept. That's enough to put a big smile on my face.

the GT-R and G35 being released in the same year...that's gonna be insane...don't have 60-70K for the GT-R, that's fine, u can get urself a just as beautiful coupe for 40K :-)

No way this car is going to start at 40k. They lose alot of the market if they do that. I would forsee the pricing to remain the same, maybe starting around 35k instead of 33k.

5) Hate the elf ear mirrors
1) Agreed, they need some work but I'm LOVING the chrome exterior bits.
2) Iffy on this as well...definitely Bangle-Influenced everywhere
3) Yes, too pointy (SC430ish)
4) Its an evolution, influenced by the wind tunnel, no doubt.
5) They're cameras, I doubt theyll make it to production.

BTW my friend helped design the front bumper so don't dis it too hard, I'll get mad! I actually like it a little.

Why does everything end up with this Bangle influence now. One thing of note though is that while Detroit is looking to the past for it's retro-esque vehicles...Japan is DEFINITELY looking forward. Thank God!!!

Oh and remember. This is JUST A DESIGN EXERCISE! Keyword: Concept!

Damn that's one crazy concept...but looks too concept like for any real indication of what a production version will be.

I bet that whole entire interior won't make it into production.

Looks like they took a page out of Lexus' L-Finesse Design book.

Kind of has a lot of similarities to the LF-A if you ask me.

I like what they did though. Monster wheels.

I think they did a good job of making the coupe look more luxurious but keeping the sportiness.
