The new Coupe Unveiling?
I hope I didn't miss this from another thread, but has Infiniti announced when/where they will be unveiling the new coupe? We knew months ahead of time that the Sedan was being introduced at the NYIAS, so just wondered if anyone has heard anything on the coupe? I am suspecting sometime in the fall maybe.

- Show is in early January... nice splash b4 a spring release to the stealers.
- It's an International show, lots of coverage
- the concept was unveiled there, why not the production model

My wife now wants me to hold off until the she sees the coupe. I've never entertained the thought really of getting the coupe becuase I like having four doors, but since we a have QX4 as well, getting a coupe is a little easier to justify. Choices choices!
I sure had the bug a while ago;
Even went out on some test drives ;
- Lexus IS350
- Audi A3 3.2Q with DSG
- BMW 330i
Then spring arrived, got my summer treads on &
realized just how good our G35s are
I'll definitely be hanging on untill the coupe arrives before making a move.

Sounds like a good plan Ian. Interesting to hear you say our rides stand up well compared to the newer competiton. By the way you were talking I knew you really had the itch now but the new coupe production version should be worthwhile waiting to see. However I think my '04 will be around for quite a few years. Just can't reconcile to spending that much more $ with the few miles I put on.

1) It's a Japanese car company, why not demo the production car in your home turf?
2) A November debut will be in time for a North American market sales in early spring.
3) I can't wait any longer for it to be released!

Well ...
1) 2005 Tokyo show had the world debut for the GT-R prototype. Would it make sense to also have the coupe concept come out at that show as well? [Aside: This argument also goes against my prediction of a combined sedan / coupe co-premiere at the NY Autoshow last month]
2) Sedan production car -- world debut at NY Autoshow. My guess is that the car manufacturers don't want to put all their eggs in one basket. Keep the positive press going throughout the autoshow circuit ... keep the buzz going with your name plate. That's why the coupe concept came out in Detroit (January), sedan came out in NY (April). I can't remember what came out for Nissan/Infiniti in Chicago (March) -- was it the Altima?
Yes -- you're right. Detroit is one of the big autoshows. And a coupe premiere in Detroit would be nice. Traditionally, it's where the Big3 display their products but now that the world's a stage, they are starting to produce cars that other markets want (eg European Focus). Japanese makes have had a foothold in the US market since the 70s, so their presence at the Detroit show (and other US shows) have to stay big to increase buzz (and marketshare) in their biggest market (outside of Japan).
However, as others have speculated on this very same forum, it is anticipated that the coupe will come out roughly 6 months after the sedan (confirmed to go on sale Nov 2006). Would a January world premiere be too short for a May 2007 release of a car? Why not build hype by bringing it out in November (Tokyo show) and get people into showrooms a little sooner in the winter season? Also, the premiere of the coupe is probably influenced when Nissan Japan wishes to release the car to the Japanese public. (Traditionally, Japan gets the car first before it gets rebadged as an Infiniti here ... eg M35/M45 came out a year after the Fuga upgrade, G35coupe came out as a Skyline in Japan first)
Again ... this is my thoughts and my thoughts do not necessarily correlate with how Nissan/Infiniti marketers work.
