^ You're right Ian, g35driver.com will not go away. But I am hoping to have it setup so that g35driver.com is a container forum setup under the gdriver.com domain name. The more I look at bimmerpost's forum, the more I like their setup.

The name G35Driver will never disappear because there's just too much history.
I agree, I think there's a bit of brand power there. I also like infinitidriver as an inclusive name, but IB may have registered gdriver just to cover their bases.

I agree with what Ian is saying and have spent more than a bit of time on bimmerpost.

Ultimately to mirror bimmerpost all of the Infiniti models should keep their prominent domain names (if they have one) and fly under some kind of Infiniti main site.

I agree Wayne, an all inclusive name makes sense for an all model umbrella site.

G Driver would only make sense if they were going to merge MyG37.
That's what should have happened when that site was started; I don't see that happening now.

The only other way is for a G dedicated site, with G35Driver & MyG37 as sub-domains.

Excellent way to put it.

Too bad most of this thread wasn't in a separate thread in "feedback & suggestions" where more people would see it.

Having an all inclusive domain is definitely the ultimate solution......just like bimmerpost.com is. I will check with IB to see what their thoughts are on this. After a quick check though, infinitidriver.com and myinfiniti.com are already taken. Infinitidriver.net is available though.

^I'm ALL ABOUT this! I remember a couple months ago signing up on bimmerpost.com to ask a spoiler question and I really liked the way everything was setup.

The thing I like about it is each community can still maintain it's own identity under the umbrella.
(with dedicated domain & forum section)

PLUS
There are general forums that are shared across all individual domains that helps hold the greater community together.

Because of my other car, I'm over there just as much as I am here
and I definitely find the layout vastly superior over there.

Another nice thing is that it has no closed end for future models like we do here.
For example with the G25 now out;
With the umbrella format, you would just add a new domain for it under the umbrella.
The new domain forum would share the common forums, so would start out with content already in place.

I've always felt like the two should be combined, but I guess its much easier said than done. At least they have made good links to skip between the two sites.

We've registered the infinitidriver.net domain name.

It's officially a go that we'll have an all model umbrella under that domain name.
