g25x?

I was checking the specs on this car, and it seems like its only 2500 dollars cheaper than a g37x... and the gas mileage difference is a whopping 2mpg... I test drove a loaner while my 35x was getting a brake flush, and to say the least it felt underpowered...

Here's the million dollar question... wtf is the benefit of buying this thing?

No idea...but it must be the same reason why most people buy the Lexus IS250 instead of the IS350, or why people buy the BMW 328i instead of the 335i...$2500 is a lot to some people, and not everyone is an aggressive driver. People buy the 4 cylinder Acura TSX over the 6 cylinder Acura TSX.

I see more of the underpowered variants on most cars and I live in the metropolitan northeast area.

Some people care more about having an upscale nameplate and will sacrifice performance just to get their foot in the door. Like the previous poster mentioned the IS250, 328, MB C300, etc. I'd rather have an Altima 3.5 than a G25, at least the Altima has some getup n go.

I don't understand how it fits into infiniti's line up... I thought maybe at first the 2.5 liter engine would give a significant gas saving.. it doesn't... why not just use the 3.7 engine but cut out the other extras to save the 2500 to appeal to those that wanna save money?

I way tune the g35 and you will get 27 mpg to a gallion. That is what my friend did. I am planning to do this as well. But infiniti want to have a car to compete w/ the is250. A waist of time i say. I dont see any of them on the street right now.

Anyways, yeah cutting costs on stuff like leather interior, cheaper lighting and such could have resulted in a cheaper car with the same engine... just my 2 cents

i never read the specs for the car but always thought they introduced it due to better mpgs which would be at least 7-8mpg more than the 35/37 but 2 is just unexplainable!

I have no idea what i was saying there b/c i was talking to other ppl while typing this. But i was trying to say if you want the better gas miles on your G35/37 to get very close to the G25, just tune your car.

Not much difference in the city. I am getting 19 right now. I am going to tune my car and hope to get better numbers on everything. But if you keep the car for a long time, it will be worth it. It would be nicer if the g25 can dish out 29 city and 34+ on high way

I figure if I need it, I can get two more miles per gallon just by lightening up my right foot a little bit more. Much rather do that and still know my car can move out when I need it to. I have always just felt like a sitting duck in any underpowered car I've ever driven; like I'm giving up an element of flexibility to get myself out of the way if something happens.
