Question about 2012 sedan
Hey guys my buddy just bought a 2012 sedan g37s, anyways when he reved it up it would only go to 4k rpm .. why is that?? and is there anyway we can bypass that? sry for my noobness ...
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.
.....What were the conditions?... did he just rev it in neutral, or was he in gear? I'm not aware of any limiter on free revving the engine, and if it won't rev past 4K in gear, then something is definitely wrong.
Ive noticed the same thing on my new 2012 G37 IPL. I can't "launch" the car no matter if I'm in manual shift or DS or in D. I turn TC off and rev and it only goes so high then sorta peels the tires and just drives off the line but not at optimum RPMS
^^ Well, the original post was somewhat vague, and he never responded with any clarification, so I don't know if you two are even talking about the same thing necessarily. When you accelerate the car hard (ie. 3/4 to full throttle) in DS mode, does it rev past 4k as it runs through the gears? Or does it up-shift early?
sorry about never answering, i own a g35 and im mainly in the other forum... but we figured it out... the 2012 g37 sedan has a rev limiter while in neutral..when we put in gear there was no rev limiter.. i dont know exactly why it does that tho...
Thanks for the update. I think it's just good engine management to limit any excessive no-load revving of the engine as IT IS bad for it.
