My fail attempt to paint my headlights

Here are some pics of my attempt to paint my headlights. I try to do something a little different and mask off the round chrome area, but failed. I guess I have to do a better job masking off the areas I don't want painted. Paint got through and it looks awful. Now I have to start all over again. I am thinking of just buying some chrome spray and masking off the black part and spray the chrome area this time, kinda off backwards from what I was doing. What you guys think would be the best approach to fix it?

The reason I wanted to do the opposite is because black paint got on the chrome so I will have to sand that off and repaint it chrome. I figure since the rest of the headlights looks good except the part where the chrome meets the black. I would take that route, but I definitely want to do it right so we will see what I can do.

You know looking at those pics I can't really tell that it's done wrong.

Looks fine to me, and it won't show up as much once they're in the headlight housing.

try using a product like goof off or goo gone on the black over spray, it might take it off. Spraying with chrome is probably second best option.

My wife said the same thing, but it will bother me because I know it is there. It is hard to tell from the picture but around the top chrome area there is black paint.

Acetone will remove the paint better than goof off just be careful as it will strip any paint it comes in contact with.

I think they look great...since I did the same thing to mine also. I completely understand wanting them to be perfect, mine have a couple mistakes, but u have to be REALLY close to my headlights to see it.

I totally agree, I will take my time. I will not put the headlights together until I am completely happy with it. The next time I decide to open my headlights would be to do ironman mod, but that will be later on.

thanks, I didn't know someone out there had it like this. I thought I was doing something original guess not. My original I idea was to paint the chrome area red, but I thought it would look ricey and since my grill is black with the infiniti logo chrome. I thought this way would flow better with the car. I will make some time to today to fix it. I have being really busy getting ready for my trip to jamaica and getting my car ready to drop off at the bodyshop while I am gone.

Here is what mine look like. Yours are slightly different, so u are still technically original? All good, I think it is a good look and I get compliments on mine all the time.
