NEWS EDITOR GREG MIGLIORE: The 2011 Kia Forte EX 5-Door cuts a cute silhouette to my eyes and offers some nice features for the price. It's a reasonable package, especially with satellite radio and a sunroof. Conversely, the cabin décor falls a bit short of expectations, even for this price. The materials look and feel just marginal, and I didn't find a comfortable position until I was almost done with my stint in the car.

The steering and chassis are tight enough, and it's actually a composed feel for the driver. I liked the light curb weight, and the dynamics on the road were agreeable. I would argue the four-banger is just passable--not underpowered, but only by a slim margin. The hatch is nice, and there's plenty of room in back. This is a decent entry in this segment but nothing spectacular.
