Any idea if, when, and how often the previous owner flushed the radiator? Check the anitifreeze and see if its clean. Could very well be dirty, which will cause the heater core to become clogged with sediment thus no heat.

if that is indeed the problem simply draining it will do little good. The sediment is so heavy that itll stay stuck in the heater core. You can get chemical and flush the helll out of it and that might help some if this is infact your problem.

Is it any chance it can be a valve or has anyone had this problem i just flushed it all out and got a new radiator so im going to have to say its not sediment.

You might need to do an air bleed of the cooling system. This happend to me too. Air in coolant lines may be it.

How did you flush the system and find the leak and what causes this leak and where?

I don't know if your fix is the fix for everyone experiencing this or a similar issue.

Things I was told:

1. Air can only get into the system if it has ever been opened... but would not happen all of a sudden, unless its a headgasket failure.

2. Water Pump may be going and when the car is not under a load, it may not be spinning properly and that is why there is no flow.

3. Thermostat is fine, if the temp gauge reads just slightly under 1/2 when the car is warmed up and does not fluctuate.

I hope my car does not have a headgasket issue, or a faulty water pump... if its the thermostat, that is a quick & cheap fix - but what is it?

My car has the same issue as many of you have. When driving it is fine, but when you come to a stop - cold air starts to blow.

?

Mine was simply one of the hoses to radiator was slightly not on right creating small drip. Then I drained all the fluid filled up again and took off the radiator cap along with the little breather on the hose in the back of the engine compartment. Let it run and bubble out while i kept filling it. After doing this multiple times with driving it between it got to the point of no bubbles and everything worked perfect.

I have an issue, my heater is HOT when I'm driving, but at idle it gets cold. Similar problem with a similar fix? :?

My temp gauge has been reading slightly over 1/2 lately. The needle is still covering part of the 1/2 tick mark. I plugged in an OBD2 gauge and my ECU gives me a reading of about 194F max while driving. Not sure why the gauge reading high, I just think the cars getting old and the gauge is slightly off. I think 194F is ok..?

the only sure fire way of testing thermostat is to touch the bottom radiator hose when the car is totally warmed up and the cooling fan kicks on, i have said this in many many posts pertaining to this heating issue people have. If its cold when the car is fully warmed up and the top hose is hot to the touch then its your thermostat replace it, thats the first step in the ESM for this problem, Only way to test a thermostat is with "touch and feel diagnosis"

Cooooooooooool???????

The vq is a motherf!@$% to bleed// most likely you guys got an air pocket in your cooling systems,, head gaskets thermostates,
water pumps are rare on the vq to go bad(not saying they never do)/// this is how i bled my cooling system//rasied th front end of the car up approx 2-3 feet on lift(only the front end),,
using 50/50 coolant /water// topped off coolant then opened
up the air bleed valve located on the heater hose by the right side of the fire wall(plastic screw)//opened it up till water came out/ started engine reved up to 3,000 rpm for 2min.. The let idle/
reved upengine to 3,000 for 2 min the shut off engine for 1 min// redid the prcedure 4-5 times until heater was hot @ idle .. Note:
If the heater is not hot @ idle then you may still have a air pocket/////reason i shut off was to prevent coolant fro spilling out of the funnel from he radiator neck/////////////

theres no need for all that mess, also if you break open that bleader it should be replaced...heres what i use all day everyday when i have a job that needs to have coolant taken out or doing a service which includes a coolant change.

http://www.drivewerks.com/catalog/sh...CAT591_pg2.htm

very cheap very effective, no mess, very nice and on a nissan/infiniti you don't need any adaptors it fits right into the neck.
