car shut down while driving

hey guys while i was driving today the car shut down, the engine oil pressure warning light came on, the malfunction indicator came on and the charge warning light also, then i turned the ignition to off i waited for like 3 to 5 mins i tried restarting it, it didn't restart it was cranking though, i tried again 2 mins later it cranked for like 4,5 seconds then it started but these lights came on after slip light, vdc light and the malfunction lamp stated on, what do u guys think it could be?

the car has 89 5xx km not miles which is i think around 50k miles not sure

edit: i forgot to say the radio and the lights were still on and radio was still playing, then engine shut down

Any new updates on this problem?? Mine has shut-down on me 3 times all ready. It has happened while I was going about 60-70 mph & it has happened at lower speeds going up a hill. The engine just shuts off in the middle of driving, I can feel the steering wheel lock up. Kind of panic and did all I knew what to do at which was try starting the car again. Thankfully that has worked. 2003 Coupe premium package minus the navi bought it at around 47k now has around 73k.

Might be the spark plugs need changing - especially if they're originals. My '03 shut down on me one time while driving about 35 MPH in 4th gear. No explanation, and it hasn't happened since. No codes set in the computer either. Since then, I have changed the spark plugs, and I suspect after seeing the originals, that they might have been the problem. The factory spark plug gap is 0.044", and my original plugs were at 0.081" when I changed them out at 101K miles. I've experienced this before on other vehicles. The electrode does wear over time, causing the gap to widen. Eventually the gap gets so wide that the coils just have a hard time making the spark jump across. This shows up as either an unexplainable shutdown, a hard start, or the engine eventually won't start at all. Without the spark jump, there's no fire, and it's very hard to trace, because everything appears to be correct.

Have you checked for any computer codes ?

Thier maybe a sensor issue (Camshaft or Crankshaft) or your coils might be burning out.

+1. Could be one of the camshaft sensors. Pretty common issue.
