My AC compressor konked out late last year and to get the local dealership to repair it the cost would have been well over $2000.

So, I bought a compressor for my 03 sedan off ebay; it was guaranteed to work but from a wrecked car. I made sure it was the correct model that fits and took it to my regular shop to have them replace it. My mechanic told me that there was debris in the compressor and that I should take it back for one that is in better condition.

I contacted the seller and he was well aware that sometimes debris ends up in the compressor and it's normal to have it flushed before and after it's installed.

Should I just check with a dedicated AC shop to see if that's the normal thing to do with a used compressor and have them install it or do you think the compressor I bought is junk and I should bit the bullet and buy a new one?
