Exclamation Drive belt squeeks !!!

I replaced my drive belt yesterday (40k miles). I bought and OEM replacement, (2 belts). When i did this , i had a professional mechanic teach me . So after it was done, i turned the car on and nothings wrong. 4 hours later i turn it on again and it starts squeekin hella loud. So i put silicone lubricant on it, and it helped a little........But on a cold start it still squeeks Did i tighten to much or not enough . HELP PLEASE !

did you use a tension gauge? you might not have them tight enough

dont tighten them too much, they need some slack or they will wearout and crack faster

I've seen in some occasions that it squeeks when it's too tight as well. It's just hard to dial in the right tension on these b*tches. I had it squeak on me the other day...and yep it's embarrassing, but not deadly.

Get a belt tension gauge. If the belts are too tight you will place excessive load on your pulleys and it can cause certain parts to fail prematurely.

hey, i had the exact same problem. the noise goes away after a couple of seconds but everytime i started my car, i heard that same squeling noise which let me tell you was very embarassing.

I had the belts changed and no more noise! The mechanic told me that its because the belts were not tight enough and they wore out (and my belt had like lil cracks on it...lol)
