Cooling Question

I changed my coolant yesterday unknowingly how much of a b1tch this is. So yesterday I drained/refilled the coolant. No problems there. But today I noticed the reservoir was empty. So I put a little bit more coolant in the radiator just until I could see it was gonna start to overfill. So I know it can't be empty.

So after I filled the radiator I rev'd the car for 10 seconds at 3k rpm's like the DIY says, and it reached the normal operating temperature. So a couple minutes later I took the car for a test drive driving it hard just to see that it wouldn't overheat.

But now I'm questioning whether it's cooling properly now. I let the car sit at 9:40 this morning and at ~10:50 I went and checked the temperature qauge and it's just a couple ticks lower than it was at this morning when it let it cool down. Does anybody know how long it takes for the quage to completely go all the way down, I never really noticed how long it takes for the quage to completely go down before I did this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will probably have to top off your coolant 2-3 times provided that you properly bled the system out (did you also remove the heater bleeder plug towards the back left side of the engine cover too when you were originally filling it up?)

as long as you are not overheating your cars cooling system is doing its job. After the car fully cools down make sure to re top off the fuilds.

AustinG35, During the refilling process I did have the air relief plug off.

The car is cooling off ok now, I must've been over reacting the first day. But now, I noticed that it's reaching it's normal operating temperature too quick. I could have the car idling for a couple minutes (when it's cold) and the temperature guage reaches the normal operating temperature, without me ever driving the car. Is that normal? Something else I noticed that my ac/and heater aren't as cold/hot as they used to be before I changed the coolant. Could it be the coolant? I hate to admit this, but I got the coolant from a friend that works at a Honda dealership.

The good thing is that the guage never goes past the normal operating temperature while I drive it. So I know I don't have to worry about it overheating.
