Car idols at 1200 t0 1300, with clutch pushed in will jump to 1800 to 2000 and then down to 1200 and then jump again. Engine light is on. Have had mechanics change out idle contol valve (seems this is all part of a control that includes the throttle motor) going to dealer next week to see what they have to say. With idle so high and erratic it is hard to drive smoothly. Had car just under a month and very frustrated with it. It is a 2006 sedan M6. Can't wait to get the idle sorted out and to hear it purr. Right now it is barking. Any suggestions. Some think a reset of the computer should do the trick.

 

I would suggest a throttle reset and Idle relearn. I have seen cars do this after the throttle body was cleaned and the computer would all of a sudden see more air and throw off the idle.
