Widening wheels?

I know some members have widened the OEM 19 inch Rays and am wondering if it's possible to widen a cast wheel such as the OEM 17 coupe wheels or other wheels. Is it possible to change the offset as well? How much did it run you, those who have done so already on the 19s, and did it have any bad effects on the strength of the wheel? Thanks!

but personally im a welder myself, and i do NOT recommend this. its not safe at all when a wheel has already been formed and now u go adding on to it, its not going to be strong and reliable its gonna to def crack over time

^ thanks.. it still looks sweet. I wish they could change the offsets rather than run spacers. 17X10.5+5 would be sweet OEM wheels

higher the offset the wider you could make your wheel.
