this piece fell from my wife's car?

I'm not home yet but my wife's freaking out because this was dragging on her car.

I think it's a heat shield...what do you guys think? It doesn't look that important

Its the heat shield for one of the cats...it also keeps the cats from scraping in lowered cars.

I've seen them repaired with SS banding.
They need to be clamped tight though so that it doesn't rattle like crazy.

Do I even need this for her car though? It's a honda accord sedan and isn't lowered or anything

i wouldnt go thru the trouble of puttin it back on, its only a cover and u said its not lowered so i say no.

if you don't put it back on be sure you never park the hot car in tall grass on a dry day or you'll burn the neighborhood down.

I need to rip these off my parents continental. They are rattling like crazy, drives me crazy just hearing it idle.
