06 Projector conversion (HID won't work)

Hi -

I swapped out my 05 headlights for the 06 projector headlights today. However, after installing everything back together, my HID projector does not turn on. The signal lights work, parking light works, but not HID lights.

I swapped the ballast from my old lights to the new one. pretty simple to remove ballast and put onto the new one. However, the bulb area inside is slightly different. I noticed the old headlights has a yellow wire and new one doesn't. Do I need to use the yellow wire for the new lights?

Please help, what am I doing wrong. I thought it was a simple install, just swap ballast

It is a simple install. Did you use your old bulbs (d2r)? The new headlights require you to use D2S.

YES, the new projector headlights came with all bulbs. The dealership say to swap the ballast only

You have to use the wiring from the old headlights in the new projectors and run them inside the housing. Yes, you have to swap ballast but that is not all. That is why they are not working. I mean you have think about it a little bit, the HID's have to run off the ballast some how right? If there aren't any wires running from the ballast to the bulbs, how are they going to come on?

the only wire i see was the yellow one which looks like a grounding wire. I googled and saw other 06 projectors headlights not using the yellow wire. should i remove it.

i bought the complete 06 projectors from beshoff infiniti. the guys said the HID bulbs are there. so the factory put in wrong bulbs?

You do NOT have to switch the wires. The headlights you bought should have the wires needed to work.

theres was no wires that came with the new lights. should i just plug the ballast wire directly to the back of the HID bulb for the new lights?

Was the wire connected to the bulb and it runs through the housing of the old headlights? I am telling you bro the wire you are probably talking about is yellowish (shiny) and is kinda thick. And at the end of it (on the side that connects to the bulb) it does have a ground wire I believe. You have to run the thick yellowish wire through the projector house and connect it to the ballast. It also has to connect to the bulb. The ground wire has to be incorporated as well, so I used one of the scews near the bulb for the ground.

I'm not trying to bust your ***** or anything. I did the same thing when I first got 06+ projectors. I connected just the ballast and put the headlights on the car and the HID's didn't work. But after I did what I described, it works.

Whatever you say bro. Have you seen his headlights? Do you know wires came with them? If they don't come with the ballast, what makes you think they would come with the wires?

They are two different types of headlights. I'm pretty sure the wire connection for the ballast on the 06 projectors are different than the 05's. You are trying to use a different year and type of headlight in year of car that wasn't meant for it, so of course somethings are going to be a little different. I'm just trying to help you out bro, I switched my headlights with 06+ projectors, and my headlights work and yours currently don't, so I'm thinking I am right here.
