Clicking/chatter from rear during load

Hello all, I just purchased an 03 g35 6spd manual. Seems kinda bad that the first place I post is in a repair section of a forum, but I guess it happens. Car has 180,000km on it, so its at the point where things are going wrong.

I have this strange noise coming from the back nearly every time I let the clutch out with any amount of load on the engine. It seems to be more pronounced from the driver side rear wheel. Its a fairly loud almost plastic-like clicky noise. It happens even if I'm at mid rpms and I take my foot off the gas and then hammer it back on, which leads me to believe it is something either in the diff or stabilizing the diff to the frame.

It doesn't happen when I turn erratically left to right.

I was thinking maybe rear sway bar mounts, or end links, or something of that sort, but I would assume cornering hard would cause this noise too in that case. I read somewhere about greasing some part of the diff (axle shaft)? I don't know where I saw that or even if this is possible. I have yet to look under the car and see how the suspension is set up on these things, but I was hoping someone has had this problem and can remove my fear that the diff is ****ed.

Let me know if this sounds familiar, I will have to jack it up soon and try more diagnostics.

Thanks in advance!

Probably the well known axle clicking problem many people have had. If you go down to the DIY area in "drivetrain" there's a pretty substantial thread on the subject. Quite a bit of discussion on warranty replacement vs. adjustment issues for those of you with the extended warranty. Doesn't look like a tough fix if you know what you're doing, but definitely something I'd be willing to pay someone who knows 60 bucks to fix. Saw numbers anywhere from 60-500 dollars to fix it. 40 for parts- can be over 100 for the right grease for yourself! bucks or so for the parts to do it as the factory service manuals tell you to-

Take a wander down there and see... 5 pages of info on it and the service manuals are available for your perusal as well thanks to the good folks at g35driver! It's in tech area as well under FAQ / DIY... if you're that kind of guy- it's all there in black and white... literally!

Thank you very much for the response, I hope it is as you have said and not something major. I definitly don't have warranty, but I've got enough mechanic knowlege if is simplely removing an axle or the like.

Thanks
