Question Checking Milage

I recently returned a Maxima on lease and got a used 2006 G35.

When I was returning my Maxima, the guy at the dealer did some fancy changing gears, pressing accelerator, changing gear, turning key etc. He said that he was verifying the mileage wasn't tempered with. Either he was taking me for a ride, or the maxima pulled out the mileage from some fancy place that cannot be tempered, I don't know really. It looked like the regular mileage to me accept he said he took the car in some sort of diagnostic mode.

Now the question, was he taking me for a ride? If not, can the same thing be done on my G35, if so how?

Will be just happier knowing it wasn't tempered with.

I live in a rural area in one of the 2 flattest counties in the UK. My licence is my life so i stick rigidly to speed limits. Due to my shift pattern most of my driving is on rural A roads with very very light traffic. Car number 2 is owned by my son in his late 20's, he currently has 6 points on his licence (2x speeding) and has had 2 accidents in his 10 years of driving, when he is driving he considers that any car if front of him should be behind him and any traffic light is the starting line of a race track. He lives in an area of Yorkshire that is very hilly, all ups and downs. The third car is owned by my daughter who is in her mid thities, lives in Central London and most of her driving is in heavy traffic and, unfortunately, she has never really come to terms with the relationship between engine revs, gear lever movement and clutch release timing. Now all 3 cars have the same mileage on the clock but really mechanically are in very differing conditions. So you see, clock mileage is not quite as important as you imagine.
