Interesting problem...

Hi all, new to the forum! I have an 05 G35X and I have a small but annoying problem with the ignition on my car....About a year ago, when I would get into my car and try to start it without the key in the ignition it would not start (the ignition start **** would not even turn) and the red "KEY" light would come on on the instrument cluster. This only happened sometimes, but now happens pretty much every time I try to start it. I now have to remove the key from the intelligent key and manually start the car. I have tried all obvious things like changing the battery in the remote (twice) and this has not helped.

I have also searched the internet and various forums but have come up with nothing, your help is greatly appreciated!

-Stef

make sure youre intelligent key/remote is not in your pocket with a cell phone or anything electronic. i think the cell phone blocks the car from getting a signal.

I had heard about that....my key is never near my cellphone though....especially when im on the phone....maybe I have a bad battery in my Ikey. Changed it twice though! The problem just seems very intermittent, or at least it was!

Hmm, I had this happen to me twice but never again. But I started the car then the red light came on as there was no key.

What do you mean by steering wheel lock? I hope I'm not missing something stupid here! It's soooo annoying (now that I am used to not having to put a key into my ignition) lol

when car is off and steering wheel is moved, it will lock. so in order to start the car u must move the steering wheel in either direction (left or right)..

if its not the steering wheel lock, either your trasmitter or reciever in the car is going out. I had a couple of friends that had problem with their key FOB's
