Hey all. This is my first post, so I'll do a brief introduction.

-I don't own the G35 i'm talking about here. It's my dad's. He's just internet-phobic so I figured I'd join this forum for information to share with him. Neither of my cars are Nissans (an 07 Accord and an 88 Saab 900 SPG) so I won't be around here TOO often.

so he wants to have some maintenance work done on his G35, and asked me what all of it I could do myself. I enjoy working on cars (I've helped him install the motordyne plenum space and the pop charger/350Z tube) and most of the stuff he wants done isn't over my head. Just have a few questions.

1) he wants to get the rear diff fluid changed. I've seen mention of 80w-90 and 75w-90 gear oil for the rear diff, but I realized after some reading that since his is a 6MT, it has a viscous LSD in the back. I havent' found any references on what sort of gear oil the VLSD takes, I was curious A) what Nissan recommends and B) what you guys recommend. Have heard good things about Amsoil.

2) Transmission fluid - on the 6MT, is this just a "drop it out the bottom, fill it on the top" sort of affair? and again, what's the favored MTL around here? is there a trans filter on the 6MT that needs changing?

3) also doing an (crankcase) oil change. Manual says something about an oil additive periodically; is this horsepockey or should you really do it?
