Issue with steering

I was driving around on some twisty roads around where I live and when going around a tight right turn there was a really loud bang sound that came from my left wheel area. It sounded like when you tighten a bolt until it breaks.

So, I drove home to check it out. While driving home the car was responsive at always, and it does not feel like there is a problem. However I did noticed it made a weird sound when moving the steering wheel side to side fast, so I took my tire to investigate.

This is what I found. You can hear the noise in the video. This is with the wheel off the car, when the wheel is on it, it sounds completely different, and not as loud. I assume because then there is weight on the parts.

The view you see is of me laying under the car. The shiny part with grease on it, is usually under a boot that I took off. Again this is on the driver side of the car.

Any idea what it is? I don't want to buy parts before knowing that it is for sure.

Thank you!

Nope, the alignment is perfectly fine, and the car still drives/handles fine.
