Horn issue!

I was doing some maintenance on my 2004 infiniti g35 coupe and came across my horns that seem to be working at half staff or in other words one was working and the other wasn't.. Is this a common problem? Are both connected to the same fuse? The one that is working is the actual horn connected to the steering wheel but i thought there was suppose to be a lower pitched horn as well that came on when i locked the doors? The ultimate question is how do i fix this? P.s ive replaced the horns already thinking that would solve the problem but it didnt.. Thanks

Not sure about '04 but '05/'06 have two horns that are connected in parallel and should blast both high and low notes together. Electrically, one side connects to ground and the +12V comes from the Horn Relay which is energized (via grounding) by the horn button on the steering wheel or by a very quick signal from the IPDM as directed by the alarm system.

However, you can program the alarm system to only blink the lights so you don't wake the neighbors... That could explain that part of your question.

Check the ground wires to each horn. Switch wires from one to the other if you can (don't know about the connectors or harness length). Or just try making them beep with a 9v battery... You'll figure it out.
