Swampy ac smell

Is there a way to get rid of the swampy smell in AC system? I changed to a carbon filter. I was told its mold on AC blower core. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Its better with the new filter. On a hot day the first 5-10 seconds the AC turns on it smells like swampy/b.o. I'm not a slob. My car is garage kept and cleaned weekly.

The filter was about a year old. Its hard to tell with carbon filters they look dirty when they're new.

kinda sounds like you have mold or mildew in your AC system... do you smoke in your car, or was there a previous owner that did?

I'd recommend having your carpets shampoo'd if you live in an area where it rains a lot, or trying Ozium spray if you don't... canisters range from $5 to $10 and they work wonders on eliminating most minor odors (not covering up) ... if, after a few days of using Ozium, the smell comes back, you may want to call local detail shops to see if they can do an ozone treatment on your car. Like I said, could be mold/mildew somewhere you don't want it. I had my stepdad skylark Ozoned when he bought it because the previous owner always had her dog in the car and, quite frankly, the car smelt strongly of a wet dog. Ozone treatment cured it right up. Ironically, my stepdad brings his damn dog with him when he goes out for walks now. -_-" People never learn
