car not starting after motor build

i have searched and didnt find anything that pertains to my issue. i have a 06 5AT. i just recently put my motor back together and back in the car and now it wont start. i have a new battery, timing is right, im getting fuel, checked all sensors, new plugs, checked all grounding, checked vacuum lines. car has been sitting for 5 months with the battery disconnected. the car will turn just but doesnt seem like its getting spark. what else can i check for? any other info you guys need? thanks for the info

did you check starter make sure is still good. there can be so many misc. stuff that can make it not start ..
i mean ignition turns on right? just engine wont crank ..

no check engine light?

the cel comes on like normal when first turn it to on. i will hook up my cypher cable to see if there is a true cel. i guess i can try and check the starter. whats the best way to check it? the engine turns just doesnt seem like its not firing.

If the engine is turning i doubt it is your starter. Are you sure your getting fuel? Fuel pump is turning on? Injectors are spitting? Does it sound normal as it is "trying" to start..."chug" noise" do your lights dim at all while it is turning over? Possible crank sensor? Correct compression?

Check all your electrical connections including that little ground loop that is for the coils that hooks up to the front timing cover. I had one person that did a motor swap and couldn't start the car because that little ground wasn't connected

yes its getting fuel. pump is priming. injectors spitting. lights dont dim when cranking and also had it on a charger when tried cranking it over. i will try and get a video on how it sounds to help trouble shoot it.

if its the two little grounding ones in the front that your talking about, then yes those are hooked up.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i will be getting off work soon and will be able to double check everything you guys have suggested. any others you can suggest?

any luck?

Nismo G Dec 12, 2012 02:58 PM

sounds like it isn't getting spark...only logical answer if its everything else is fine.

lucid215 Dec 12, 2012 03:55 PM

didnt get a chance to check it last night. right now i gotta check to see if i have compression and spark. other then those two things i dont know. i checked all the fuses, used cypher to see if i had any codes. so right now thats where i stand

so I went to work on the car last night and yea. So I turn the motor by turning the crank pulley and nothing. Like there's no resistance from the valves and cams turning . What I don't get is the main timing chain is spinning and turning the intake cams but yet I don't feel the valves opening and closing. I also think my timing is off so I don't know. any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

Did you touch the heads? If not, I doubt that the timing chain is turning the cams and the valves are not openig.

Maf plugged in? TB plugged in?

I was going to suggest the same ground pin that was already suggested.

lucid215 Dec 13, 2012 12:48 PM

maf is plugged and throttle body. how can they not be turning the cams? thats what im confused about. i put the chains on right and everything just so confused at this point

lucid215 Dec 15, 2012 10:10 PM

so i redid the timing, checked fuel (good), and checked spark (good) and still car will not kick over. im running out of ideas
