2006 over heating

Good afternoon guys

I am new to the forum and have searched and found some awesome information on here. I am currently having over heating issues with my g35 and would love any kind of feed back on the matter if possible.

background my car has just under 100,000 miles. Car ran fine but always noticed that the fans were always on. Well on a very hot day I was driving down my neighborhood and noticed that the temp was going all the way up so pulled over turned off my car. let it sit and drove it home once it cooled down. First thing I replaced was the thermostat. oil level is fine coolant level is fine as well, no white smoke coming from the exhaust However when I went to bleed the system I noticed that no water was getting to the other side of the radiator. No coolant showed up and the bleeder valve next to the battery after it was warmed up. I am starting to get worried because now I am thinking that my water pump is out? or that my new thermostat isnt opening up. How can you test the thermostat, and how to check I installed it correctly or what other suggestions would you recommend me doing to finding out the solution to my overheating problem?

thanks in advance!

If your coolant isn't going anywhere it sounds like the pump. You can test the t-stat by putting it into a pot of water and boiling it. When it reaches the correct temperature, you'll see it pop open.

Should only be one way to install the thermostat.

Have the fans checked. Infiniti actually extended the warranty for the fans because they had a high rate of failure.

Since you've replaced the thermostat, you may have air in the system. These engines are very hard to properly bleed. Search around for some bleeding tips.

My fans died right before I sold the car (I replaced them and made sure it was 100% of course). But even with them dead, the coolant still moved... and then when I stopped it'd boil over into the reservoir.

The thing is the fans do turn on they work but I'm just not getting circulation with my coolant, does anyone know possibly in how to check that your water pump is working?

Thanks for all the replies

I'm not aware of a way to really test the water pump.

When the fans kick on, do you hear them? Are they pulling a good amount of air? When mine went, you could still see them moving, but they didn't really "whir" the air, and you couldn't really feel much airflow.

Yeah the fans kick in strong then when the car starts to really warm up the fans blow even stronger, so I'm pretty sure it's not the fans just not getting any circulation, when I followed the instructions from this forum on bleeding the system I do everything except no coolant ever gets to the bleeder valve or the left side of the radiator
