Granny mode + drag strip question
Granny mode + drag strip question
I'm bringing my sedan to the track tonight. It's been running really well and I want to show up my friend in his iroc z.
So the sedan is a granny car in itself, but I have heard a few people refer to the ECU going into "granny mode" when you don't drive it hard. I am driving to the track and am wondering if this even is a true fact and if so, how do I get it back into performance mode you could call it before I make my runs? I think when I floor it a few times on the streets it gets faster, but I can't go around driving like an idiot at the strip... Someone chime in please!

Details on the IROC-Z? I used to own one, so I know a little about them. The straight line performance can vary between year and mods. Early IROC-Z's came with only 215 hp but most who race IROC-Z's ain't stock.
You should shut your mouth chinky, you didn't do a single performance modification to your car. Speak for yourself. I'm 18, my car looks nicer and performs better than yours. You are a *****. I hope you drive another car with that outlook on this forum.
The Iroc ran a 16.xx last time, and he has fixed it up a bit since then. V8 305 I believe, so its got 300 hp tops.. I want to say it's an 84. The ignorance of some people ^^^ really is amazing. I'm going to report times back just to continue to beat this guy into the hole he's dug for himself.
I'm not going just to beat him ha! We're good friends and support each other in the hobby. I'm in it for myself, and so is he. A little competition keeps us both moving forward.

Oh! sorry, I missed that CAI in your list. Nevertheless it is good for nothing without a tune, *****.
I'm at 265 RWHP on a dynojet. I have a significant chance. I'm also running RWD, true rwd. Not just a switch like I used to have. I dropped the CV axels and drive shaft, but kept the front wheel speed sensors. That helped a lot going down the road, much faster. Does anyone have any info on the original question I asked? Will revving it a few times get the ecu to stop pulling power? I wish I could find the quote of someone saying that after just a few dyno pulls they noticed gains of 20-40 hp because of the ECU.

The IROC's started in 85. If it's a genuine IROC-Z, the it must be an 85-89. Early IROC's with the 305 were dog slow. In stock form, they only dyno between 170-190. Makes a good amount of tq down low, but quickly runs out of steam at the top end. Fast for it's time, but dog slow by today's standards. Made a whopping 170hp on the dyno and ran a 15.6 1/4 mile.
You'll be fine with the ECU. Just open it up a little (safely) before you get to the track.
Videos or it never happened.

here we go again the whole i m 18 and i drive a G with the oh my G is faster and better than yours. I can play this game too. I bet your mommy and daddy are real proud of you to buy you a G and pay for your insurance. See?
I m glad that you think that because its your G. and what i do with my G is my business and my sig line is outdated i stopped dumping money in my car for other things dont believe me? well i got a ARK catback too and the reason why i didnt get a tune was because i was waiting on that. sure performance wise its not much but unless you got a snail under the hood i m not really interested in what you have because its probably been done.
And just so i can contribute something: just do an ECU reset if youre that concerned and drive it around with a lead foot.
