Issues jacking up the car
Was changing oil and needed to jack it up. I followed the owners manual and put the floor jack in the grooves on the metal lip under the rocker panel. I don't understand why but the metal was bending when i jacked it up no matter where I placed it. I was using a regular craftsman floor jack. I attached a picture of the jack used.
Don't do this...not trying to be a dick but if you can't figure out how to jack up your car take it somewhere to get your oil changed
That thin metal strip isn't there to support the weight of the vehicle, its there to prevent the car from sliding sideways while on a jack. The actual unibody that metal strip is attached to is what you are supposed to use. Just look at the OEM jack and you will see where the contact surface would be on the car.

So its not that metal strip were there is a cutout on the plastic rocker panel? Is what I see is the grooves for the OEM jack then the rest is non Grooved metal.

^Yes, that is the jack point. But, the jack you're using is putting all of the weight on the bottom of that strip. So at any slight angle that metal piece eventually starts to bend.
Something like this might work, depending on its size: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Parts-Access...ack+pinch+weld
you could also try the hockey puck thing so it doesn't bend.
or you can just jack your car up from the subframe is probably easier. Or you can get a better jack and jack it up by the front center jack point, which is posted somewhere in this forum.

I use a hockey puck with a groove cut in the middle so it doesn't bend the metal. You can also place the jack just inside the pinch weld and jack the body that way. Idea is to lift the body, not those pinch welds because as you're finding out, it bends.
