Frustrated

I have a 2006 g35 Coupe with electric radiator fans. I recently had an issue at a LONG stop light where the temp climbed dramatically. I replaced the thermostat first and had the coolant replaced. The next day it did it again. I checked and the electric fans are not turning on at all. Is there a way to root out the problem without buying un necessary parts? This only happens at stops, never when driving down the road. In fact when the temp raised dramatically I pulled away from the stop light and temp dropped to normal operating range in half a mile. Thanks from a remote military reservation in advance

If your fans aren't turning on when the temp gauge creeps into the 'high' range then then fans aren't operating normally. They most likely need to be replaced or you need to take your G to an infiniti / nissan dealership for troubleshooting. Before you go through a costly replacement, though, bleed the coolant system one more time just to be sure.

Anything else not working? Look at fuses first. In the "fusible link block" near the battery check the two 40amp fuses H & I (see below).

If those are good trace the ground from the fans to be sure they are solid.

There are 3 fan relays in the IPDM but they are not individually serviceable, meaning, if those have failed you'd need to replace the whole module ... $$ Hopefully not.

Unlikely that they would both fail at the same time so #1 fuses, #2 ground, then anybody's guess.

Burped the system again this morning. If my luck remains as it has I am sure I will have to replace all fuses and then the fan and then the water pump. Will check the fuses tonight. I have a friend with a 2006 Z and I would expect them to be if not identical then similar enough to at least diagnos.

your fans are your problem. Figure out why there not coming on ..check your power source to them. If you have the right tools (power probe or something equivalent) feed it 12v...if they turn on, there working properly, it's a fuse or wiring issue not sending them power
