I started my car and when I pressed the button on the shifter and moved it back ,it moved way too easily. It would not sit in reverse or neutral or park. It would not engage. It just slid backwards without me pushing the button down. I put it in park and it was fine then I moved the shifter back again. The shifter moved without the button being pressed down . It would go back easily but not forward unless the button was pressed down. The car can not reverse or drive it seems to be locked in the park state. Has this happen to anyone else? More importantly does anyone know how to fix the issue?

 

seems like a broken or loose shift cable.
