Unhappy overheating i dont know what to do!!!!

Hey all,
I have an 03 g sedan. when i furst bought the car it overgeated a little but i noticed the coolant was low. so added more and it was fine. then about a week late it overheated again but this time i didnt see any coolant low just overfloed into the resivior. so i did the obvious and changed the thermostat then flushed and bleed the system. is was going good untill this morning. driving to work and i look to see im almost all the way to hot. tried turning on the heat and still kept rising. i gave it some gas thinking it might push through my tstat but rose up again. so i pulled over let it sit a few water was rising in my resivoir. but i was late to work so grabbed a towel and just opened the cap took a few tries to get the pressure out and ovcourse this filled my resivior. but i added water and it cooled. so now what????? what is causing this i really dont think its my head gasket. but im stuck now on what elese to do. can anyone helop me out. worried sick about my car

Does the overheating occur with the AC on and off? Did you check to make sure your cooling fans are both working?

Do a test, when you turn the AC on, both fans should come on immediately.
