Air Conditioner AC System
Air Conditioner AC System
Hey Guys,
I drive a 2005 G35 Sedan and I started noticing that my air conditioner is not blowing cold air. I read a bunch of stuff on the internet and decided to charge my AC System with more freon.
With the AC running, the low pressure reading was 25 PSI so I decided to add more freon until it went to 32 PSI. After adding about 8 oz into the car, it normalized at 27 PSI. However, when I shut off the car, the low pressure goes up to 150 PSI. (max on meter). I think I must have added too much freon into my car.
But with the car running, it goes back down to 27 PSI. Did I add too much freon into my car? Help please!

You really need a correct set of gauges as the single gauge setup is not ideal.
What is the high side pressure when the low side is at 27 psi
page 94 lists the correct high and low side pressures when the system is operating. With the system off, the pressure equalizes, so the reading will be well over 27 psi.

More than likely you are fine. Look at the bottom chart and based on the outside temp, what pressure do you see on the low side? If it's in that range, you are good.

Hi Mustang 5L5
Thanks for getting back to me. I dont know the high pressure when the system is operating. I think I have a leak in my system. But you are right, I should take it to a specialist. After driving the car for a while, the pressure went back down. Static pressure reads 85 psi on the low pressure port and with AC running, it reads 28 psi.
Maybe the system normalized, or it actually leaked. Before when I drove the car after refilling it, it would feel like when I step on the gas that there is pressure and a lot of whining noise coming from the engine. But now, there isn't any.
