Wheel Hop

I've had wheel hop on my G35 for a while. Today, I was out having fun in the snow and gave my car some gas and it caught traction and hopped. I let go of the gas immediately. So I got to the main road and now my car hops actively while driving. It wasn't doing that before.

So I looked at my differential bushing and it's 110% blown. Massive cracks all throughout the bushing, the diff cover has the silicone filling dripped down, all the symptoms. But not one of those stories have shown that people have wheel hop while driving without doing a burnout. Would that indicate that the subframe bushings are also potentially blown? If so, I'll just order the Whiteline kit and spend a weekend full of self hatred, drilling and cutting fueled by intoxication lmao. Regardless of the matter, the diff bushing needs to be replaced.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Seeing as you're in the snow, are you sure it's not an excessive amount of snow/ice throwing your wheels out of balance? Or a chunk of snow/ice knocking any balancing weights off the wheel?

Worn rear shocks have more of an effect on wheel hop than the diff bushing. Replace the diff bushing and rear shocks before even messing with subframe bushings.

Rear KYB GR2 shocks are $38 each and pretty easy to replace (since spring isn't mounted on it).

My first gut feeling before reading the first post was bad rear shocks. I'd take a look here first.

Got it. Thanks for the input and suggestion on the rear shocks!
