Hi all....this is a new to us used car for my 17 yr old. He is on a budget...but of course he needs to be safe and have reliable ride.
2006 g35x....on way to inspection hit turkey on highway (car in front of me hit it...i rolled over it).....great news.... I passed inspection .... there is no noticeable change in the drive or sound of the car ....but put the car up on a lift at a local mechanic yesterday and saw the muffler it was pretty banged up.... I'll get insurance money but rather pay for that to cover his insurance for the year....over fixes that aren't absolutely necessary.
Can you review the posted pic and let me know your opinions if it should be fixed immediately or in a month or wait for it to noticeably be a problem?
Thanks Does this muffler have to be replaced?

As long as there's no exhaust leaks (you'd know) you should be fine. Hope your 17 year old is responsible, the G is definately a car you can get into some big trouble with pretty quickly

yeah... that's what I was thinking.. doesn't seem to be leaking.
and yes he is extra reasonable as far as driver safety and no speeding!! If he had any tendency to speed I would not have gotten him this car for sure...just has his heart set on a slick looking car and I purchased this for half of Kelley Blue Book. It runs mint.... would have been better if a turkey hadn't run into me in the first week of owning the car before my son even saw it.
poor turkey. so how do u know if ur kid has the tendency to speed or not? its not like he will be doing it in front of you. he will more likely be doing it with his friends if it happens
FYI - if it does start leaking, the coupe mid pipe is a direct bolt on, and sounds a bit better c: you can usually find them on your local craigslist for ~$40.
