New guy needs some help.. ticking/knocking LOUD
Hey guys so I've been reading on this forum for a while now but never posted before.. however I'm now stumped as to what could be wrong with my G... any help would be appreciated
also yes I looked around but couldn't seem to find anything with an issue just like mine
so I have this ticking/knocking sound that gets louder and faster with the rpms... But for some reason only when the gas pedal is being held. When u release the gas pedal the sound goes away.. with a metal bar I checked for where the sound was coming from and it was most noticeably loudest at the electric throttle body and the metal bar right before the engine that all the pullies and belts go on..
i cleaned my throttle body and maf sensor hoping it would help but unfortunately nothing.. I also am getting code p0021 which I believe is for my bank 2 camshaft position solenoid gasket.. But I've ordered a whole new solenoid with a new gasket.. just waiting for it to arrive..
This is a video of my car and the sound I'm having problems diagnosing

Definitely a rod knock. Sorry bro. Find a used engine and toss another one in. Then can be had for about 5-700 bucks. If you have the time you can do it yourself. Not to difficult to do and there's a write up a wrote on here when I did mines .
Actually it sounded great on startup and at idle but sounds like trash when you rev it up, I think it's a broken timing chain guide and the chain is slapping when you rev the motor.
EDIT: Pull off the access covers and use an inspection mirror and flashlight and look for broken ends of the timing chain guide, also remove the lower oil pan and look up into the front to see if the broken guide pieces fell down into the pan.

that's what I'm thinking... the noise also is only there while the gas pedal is being pressed.. as soon as I let go of the gas pedal the noise goes away... even as the rpmsare dropping the noise is gone... going around the engine bay the noise seems to be coming from the throttle body/intake manifold part of the engine..

P0021 code
Someone else posted this https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...-solenoid.html about the P0021 code (SES Code P0021 Fix - Valve Timing Control Solenoid).
