Car shuts off while driving

I was driving to work today, 05 sedan pouring rain on the freeway, and all of a sudden it begins to bog when I press the gas , I thought it would be fine but then it suddenly cut all power to the car and shut off and power steering and everything went out and had to get it towed.
before this tho for around 3 weeks it’s been giving me a battery light but goes away after a couple seconds I already replaced the battery,”.
could it be the alternator ?

Battery light usually means an issue with the charging system, so its possible you could have an alternator on its way out. To test it, you can start the engine and measure voltage at the battery terminals. It should be close to 14 volts.

Also, these cars are notorious for getting the IPDM compartment flooded due to clogged drain holes from dirt/debris. The IPDM is an electronics control box which houses a bunch of fuses and important relays. When it gets soaked, the car will start to do some really weird śhit. Thats something you should check out also. Just google search for the location if u wanna find it. But its in the aft right side under the hood.
