Exclusive 2008 M Pics
They're here.
Took pics of an '08 Sport today. We also have an '08 Desert Shadow M35x which I'll try to snap some pics of tomorrow.
New Front End:
Revised Rear w/ Integrated Diffuser. The Aero Kit is no longer offered on 08s. All Sports have more agressive rockers and rear valances making the Aero Kit somewhat moot. Rear Spoilers are still available as a dealer or port installed options:
More Aggressive Side Sills:
Revised Taillights:
Revised 19" Wheel Design:
Revised Interior Gauge Cluster Color Scheme:
Revised Trim (More Chrome) On The Center Stack Controls:
Revised Aluminum Trim (Darker):
All in all the car looks much better in person than it does in pictures. The front end doesn't look so bubbly and curvy as it does in photos. The front end is still fairly aggressive and the taillights while not as chunky as the 06 and 07 cars, are a bit sleeker looking. The new wheel design is just as good looking as the current 19" M wheel. The flared spokes fit with the new cars design changes very well. I'll try to take a pic of the 18" wheel on the x we have tomorrow.
The interiors is filled with some handsome and welcome upgrades. The White/Violet color scheme which first appeard in the V36 Sedan is much easier on the eyes than the previous Amber color scheme. The chrome trim on the center dial piece and the surrounding buttons are pretty nifty. The revised VR commands were simplified for the retarded. For the folks who were wondering what the "revised Stone interior" consists of, it's simply an all Stone interior now whereas the 06 and 07 Ms had stone seats but black carpeting. Personally I prefer the two tone gray/black not only because the black carpets wont get as dirty, but because I liked the contrast. The Bourbon (basketball colored) interior is also being deleted for 08 AFAIK.
The Navi is now HDD based just like the system in the G as opposed to the former DVD based systems and the screen is now a touchscreen. The 9.3 Gigs of space is also there for you to load your music on to the car just like the G.
As I said, we also have a Desert Shadow M35x. Desert Shadow is an all new color for 08 and sort of resembles Umbria Gray. I'll keep you folks updated and try to answer any questions you folks may have.
*Edit*
Desert Shadow M35x (non-Sport). Notice the extra chrome trim in the lower front grille.
No faux rear diffuser on non-Sports
The new 18" wheel design looks like a slightly tamer version of the 19"s used on the Sport. They're nicer than the bulky looking 8 spokes on the '06 and '07 non-Sports but I wish they weren't so similar to the Sport wheels.
The wood trim still has a matte finish (I wish they'd return to the lacquered stuff they used to use in the F50 Q) but it's much more attractive for '08 as it's darker than the trim used in last years model.
Tried to take another shot of the gauges but it was at night. I'll try for a daytime shot. Sorry, these pics come from my phone. I only bring my SLR out to the cruises.
